From the toilet. LOL. do you know what it means?
The neighborhood
Almost everyday, the people here dance outdoors according to the drums similar to our lion dance drums. All hail the dancers' fan!
The people’s culture of smoking here is big. Almost everyone smokes. =( Even machines like these sells cigarettes when ours sells teddy bears.
Dinner – Steamboat
Their form of steamboat is slightly different from Singapore. Their soup is bland. With the cooked food, they mix it with sauces. Yummy! We speng only S$4 per person! Actually Da Peng treated us! Thank you!
We went to the police station to register our address together with our VISA.
When we went to a branch unit, they told us to go to the main unit. When we went to the main unit, they told us to go to the branch unit. -.-; Luckily, the person who brought us there, Fang Fei was quite persistent and the officers finally went to get help from their superior.
I think the different colour uniform signifies their rank. Green for the lower post officers and blue for the higher post officers.
Their superior who helped us with the registration told us that there will be a fine if we did not register before 24 hours after our flight. Thankfully, he gave us a second chance!

Transportation
Taxi. Because it rained, the roads are quite muddy and the entire place was flooded. We had to take the taxi from work to home and back. Once, the taxi driver just drove off when Maveric haven’t even entered the taxi. He had to jump in. Thankfully, he was not injured.
Bus. It is almost similar, except they have less seats and more space for standing. They drive the buses like they are driving a race car. You have to hold on to the railing at all times.

TV! But cannot watch even though we bought the TV cable already =(
There’s no stove or any form of cooking equipment! Not even to boil water. And up till now, we still don’t know where we can hang our washed clothings.
Our rooms are very beautiful! The only problem is that there are many cockroaches and insects! We bought the insect repellent but there are still cockroaches!
As you can see from the pictures, the apartment is actually rather bare with minimal furniture. We had to buy plenty of stuff and that have already cost us about S$70 each. It would be a waste to throw them away after our SIP, so we thought of bringing it back to Singapore.
If it is possible, Siddons! Please help us negotiate with China Southern Airline to increase our baggage allowance to 30kg because we are students having attachment in china. You could say we need more space because we are staying in china for 12 weeks. Also, because it is autumn season now, the weather is cold and our thick clothes are rather heavy.
My sister says it is possible to increase the baggage allowance if we ask. Please help us check with the airline. If it is possible, CC the email to us too. Thank you.
Wang Dong, the person in charge of us, asked Maveric the other day about paying him back the money for the rental of apartment. It cost Y$1500 per month. Maveric and I are told that the company will pay cost of rental for apartment as well as the utilities bill. Please confirm with Wang Dong. Maveric and I are not willing to pay for this as we did not prepare enough money for this. Also, we will not be getting paid so our expenses might be over budget when we buy furniture to make up for what the apartment doesn’t have.
At work, Maveric is in the advertising department, and I am in the editing department.
In the advertising department, they workload is rather little and there is not much that Maveric can do. Most of the time, he would just surf the internet, which is what he can also do in Singapore.
In the editing department, everybody is rather busy and they don’t really have much time to teach me anything. Most of the time, I’ll just sit beside them while they work trying to get a grasp of what they are doing. My teacher said he would help me get the computer fixed, so that I can do some editing myself. However, it will take the weekend to do so.
They have given us each a Chinese book to read regarding editing and After Effects. Reading it is a little tough on my side but still manageable.
Also, the office has informed us that our working hours would be 9-6pm, every Monday to Saturday. Siddons has informed us that we do not have to work on Saturdays. I’m not quite sure about the arrangement between the school and the office. Please help us to confirm this. We do not mind working on Saturdays.
The food here is pretty similar to Singapore and we have gotten used to most of them.
We met 3 colleagues that has helped us tremendously in our stay here, often bringing us around to buy the things we need. We are very thankful towards them because they are doing this out of their own time.
Cheers. Until later.
Couch where we usually do our work when we reach home.
The heater they have here only lasts 5 minutes and then it will automatically change to cold water.

Ultra Man!!! =P
Nice Balcony!
With no place to hang our clothes, we resorted to this.
The cupboard is so old and dusty. Both of us do not dare to put our clothes inside because of the musty smell. We have nowhere to hang our clothes too, so we kept everything in the luggage.

If i remembered correctly, you mentioned that the apartment is supposed to have everything inside. So should we request the furniture that they dont have (eg: stove and woks) or buy them ourselves? Please confirm with Wang Dong.
